I want to see God BIG, but not to just expect His bigness to be demonstrated in BIG events.
Last Friday evening, a good old Kansas thunderstorm was trying to blow in from the west.
By the time we were getting ready for bed, the winds were kicking up and the lightning was really flashing. Aaron, who loves storms…especially nighttime storms…was very excited at the prospect of a lightning show, seen clearly from his upstairs westward facing windows.
“Mom, I want to keep my blinds open,” he informed me as we went through his bedtime routine. I knew he would want to do this. Every time we have a storm when it’s time for bed…or the prospect of a storm during the night…Aaron wants to keep his blinds open so that he can see the lightning in all its bright glory.
I’m glad that he’s not scared. In fact, I join Aaron in his love of watching lightning. That’s why, after I told him goodnight, I went straight to…

Beautiful reminder that God is BIG everyday, especially in the small because when we find it, it is BIG! Amen!

You’re so right, Cecilia! It’s so wonderful to see our BIG God in all areas and all situations we face. Praying that you see God BIG as you care for your aunt and all the demands there. ❤️

Thank you Patty. Today is a big day as we wait to hear after a week of therapy if the rehab center experts will simply recommend she needs more time with them or if they recommend that she will need this help from now on. She has always been bitter, but she has become even more hard hearted. My husband could not fathom her behavior so I took him with me to visit at her window. She adores him so I hoped we would see a change for the better. Sadly she became so ugly even the nurse was embarrassed and my husband was stunned. I know my Aunt is afraid and this behavior is the result of her fears. Aging is not for the faint of heart and losing control is even more terrifying. Today I have already seen God in the encouragement of your words, and the still peace I have in my heart. He is with me and I thank God. Thank you for those prayers!

Aging is so complex and sometimes so sad! What news did you hear today about the next step? I pray for your peace and wisdom. I helped our elderly former neighbor after her husband died. She had no grandchildren and her son and daughter-in-law didn’t care one bit about her. She was pretty difficult and demanding. I stepped in as if I was her daughter for five years, but I wasn’t her daughter and was limited in what I could do for her. She passed away last year. I’ve honestly been thankful she hasn’t been here for all this virus mess this year. You take care of yourself and God bless you.

I don’t know why, but that family abandonment blows my mind still. Her daughter just took on a HUGE project to avoid any responsibility, but I have to believe that God is in it so I’m not worried. So what did I hear today? Nothing. Not one single word. I called, I texted, I emailed…finally sometime after 6:00pm I received a text from the administrator that I was supposed to have gotten a call. (I even answered three Spam Risk calls just in case! LOL!) But they promise someone will call tomorrow. 🙏🏻

I do hope you hear news tomorrow. Family neglect is just so awful. I know God is pleased with your care for her. May He fill you with peace and your aunt as well.

The news I received today was not good. It seems she has given up on life and her cognizant thought has flown away. I can’t help but believe if I could just see her and talk to her it would help her understand she has not been abandoned! This crazy pandemic prevents us from seeing her except through a window. Rehab is ready to release her next week because she won’t/can’t improve. I found a place that may take her and I found a place to take her but they won’t decide until tomorrow after speaking with the person in charge of her clinicals at rehab. If they will take her I can have familiar items moved to her room, including her bed. I pray those things give her hope to try to get better. We learn tomorrow ( I guess today, I can’t sleep) and then it will be a wild race to get those things to their facility so they can be set up prior to her arrival. Pray for our protection from the virus as we call movers and pick up packing supplies to make this move for her, then handle the rest of her things. We will place them in storage with the hope and prayer they can turn her around and we can move her to assisted living and bring more of her belongings. In the name of Jesus guide us and protect us. Amen.

Dear Patty, thank you so much for your precious insights of how the Holy Spirit is working in the lives of his people. You are precious in His sight and mine too!!! What joy to be used by God as a holy instrument of His writing love letters to all the whosoevers!!! Me too, Patty, I want to see GOD in the BIG and in the little of my life. Those are my James 1:17 gifts from Him.
