Where Is Your Faith?

Jesus and His disciples had gotten into a boat on the Sea of Galilee.  Jesus told them to go over to the other side of the lake.  As they were sailing along, Jesus fell asleep.  Soon a huge wind arose, and their boat was in real danger of capsizing.  The disciples awakened Jesus and with terror told Him they were perishing.   But Jesus rebuked the winds and the surging waves, and soon there was calmness.

Jesus looked at His disciples and said, “Where is your faith?”

Jesus is still asking us that question today in our storms.

Aaron collapsed with a drop seizure last month after going for two years without one of those dangerous seizures.  Where was my faith?

Our daughter called us from Texas two weeks ago.  She was in the ER with a pulmonary embolism.  Where was my faith?

Old hurts and unresolved issues about a situation from years ago started spilling out as I talked to a sweet friend the other night.  Where is my faith?

A friend with a daughter going into drug rehab.  A friend recently diagnosed with cancer.  Another whose daughter is fighting a recurrence of her cancer.  A job lay-off of one’s husband shortly before he could have retired.  A friend whose son is having sudden and very serious seizures that are escalating.  A friend betrayed and now divorced.  Some are grieving prodigal children.

Where is their faith?

Jesus hung on the cross.  “It is finished,” He cried.  His battered body was lowered, and He was buried.  His disciples were crushed, full of terror far worse than the terror on that boat.  Where was their faith?

Satan was jubilant, thinking he had won.  Jesus was dead!

“Now where is your faith?” he probably hissed to all who followed Jesus.

Not so fast, Satan! 

This happened!!

The tomb was empty on that Sunday morning.  Jesus lives today!  We serve a risen Savior! 

Where is my faith?

My faith, in every circumstance and storm and trial, is in a Savior Who has defeated death!

Jesus is with me in my boat today, very much alive and in control of every wave…every toss…every fear…every hurt.

We serve a RISEN Savior!

Hallelujah!

  2. Thank God for the finished work of Jesus on the cross and his resurrection. He triumphed over sin, curses, and death for us and took back the title deed that the enemy had stolen for the earth! Hallelujah! However, we live in a broken world but we know our redeemer lives and his victory is our victory.

    So many times, I have asked the same questions that you ask, Patty. What I love about the story of the storm and Jesus, he told them they were going to the other side. No storm could stop what Jesus said and they did get to the other side. He will never leave or forsake us and sticks closer than any brother. We are all going to the other side, and with faith in God, we will get there, despite how the seas and winds roar.

    In the name of Jesus, Aaron will not have escalating drop seizures because by the stripes of Jesus he is healed. Your daughter will make it to the other side. Faith though small as a mustard seed will see you to the other side.

    He has risen. He has risen indeed! ❤️ and 🤗 and prayers! God hears and delivers us.

  4. I’ll never forget the day I was whining to God feeling sorry for myself about a difficult life circumstance and those very words penetrated my soul. It still strikes fear in my heart! This Monday, my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer. Girl, my husband d and I cried crocodile tears. Then I reminded myself about all the good things in this and we went to the Word. “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Today, I was all over the place, and I read your blog and remembered I don’t want to hear those words again! We were surprised, but God was not. So my faith is in the Lord and we will just take one day at a time! Praise the Lord from whom all bless8 g flow!

    1. Oh Cecilia, I am so sorry about your husband’s diagnosis. I love the verse God gave you. God truly does give us what we need in His word. Those four words, “Where is your faith?” hit me so much this morning. So simple and so profound. Easy for me to remember, but not always easy to practice if I get my eyes off of God.       1. Truly we need a “love” check on these comments! Thank you for your kindness and as you can tell from my typing alone, I am a hot mess. But those words stopped the freight train in my head today. “Where is your faith, Cecilia?” Can you believe my husband heard from the oncologist to tell him they received the referral and they are gathering all the data from the surgeon and sending him to a cancer genetic doctor first (cancer gallops through his family unfortunately). My sweet, smart, wise husband forgot to ask the name of the oncologist and where they are located! I’m sure they will call back but it’s so uncharacteristic for us! Please just pray for us to settle down, and take one thing at a time, and listen to God through these timely and wise words of yours! Thank you for the contact.     2. Your testimony includes such hope and joy, Cecilia. My husband was diagnosed with liver cancer three years ago. A little over two years ago he received a liver transplant and has thus far been cancer free. God paved the way for us with his loving care, blessed us through his gracious people, and cocooned us in his peace! Indeed: Praise the Lord from whom all blessings flow!

      2. Thank you for the awesome encouragement! We are heading to a genetic doctor tomorrow (4 of 5 siblings have cancer). Then we see the oncologist next week and hope to get a direction and more firm information. We are surely trusting in the Lord for a lot of things!
